I know I've been a bad blogger lately, but I've been saving this one to share for the festival. So without further ado.... Chicopee Triangles!
Because I was working with fat quarters rather than the 3/8 yards suggested in the tutorial, I downsized my triangles, and used my Hex'n'More Ruler to cut the largest triangles I could (about 8"), I included some Kona Bone, and then I pieced some of my scraps to make a few extra triangles. I love the visual interest the pieced and bone triangles add.
I quilted it with concentric circles (easier than it looks, I followed this tutorial from Blooming Poppies). I think it takes practice and going slow to get perfect circles, I was working a bit fast, some things got a little wibbly wobbly, after the quilt crinkled up, it's hardly noticable.
The back really shows off the quilting:

ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful. The broken triangles mixed in really jazz it up, and the concentric circle quilting looks like a big ripple moving out. Lovely!

ReplyDeleteGreat job on your quilt. I love that it is the triangles. As said above, the broken triangles really had a fun flair. I like it! Fantastic quilting. Someday, I'll venture into doing my own quilting. But for now, I'll just enjoy your quilting!
