I've been quilting since 2005. I have completed a whopping 67 quilts in those 8 years! This ranges from little wall hangings and table runners all the way up to the big bed size quilts. (I just added them up, I'm a bit shocked!) Many of those were gifts or have been sold in my Etsy shop, but today I decided to figure out just how many are still around.

When they aren't in use I've got a bit of storage room in our wardrobe, or down in my sewing room. One day I might have to find a new place to store our clothes, because the wardrobe will be full of quilts. It seems like most of my WIPs are ones I had intended to keep, I might have to rethink that...
How many quilts have you made? Are they all still around?
And to make this a little more WIP Wednesday applicable, my current WIPs:
I've regained focus on Starry Samhain Night, so far I have 6 stars made

I've been esp distracted by the Marcelle Medallion. It has been fun and challenging so far, I'm trying to take it slow so I can enjoy it, plus I'm waiting on some orange stash builders from Pink Castle Fabrics. I've added the next border, but for some unknown reason iPhoto stopped sharing photos with Flickr, so this instragram pic will have to suffice.
I've also been playing with some Happy Go Lucky scraps (yep I have scraps, which means I already have a quilt pieced out of that beautiful fabric, check back in oh....6 months when I can share it with you all. =) Just know TraceyJay is awesome as usual with her quilt designing skills.) These are 1 1/4" hexies.
And since this post already talks so much about numbers, 2013 stats:
Finishes: 6, well plus 2 that haven't been blogged. Sheesh I'm slacker.
WIPs: Roughly 20, I need to go through my list and probably add a few.
I don't think I'll be the first to say - never too many quilts! You've got a collection of real beauties there! Impressive work :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband is a bit of a minimalist, and this is why I'm scared to make too many big quilts - he won't know what to do with them all! Although I supposed I could always try to find out just how many is too many for him...
ReplyDeleteWow these are amazing! You must be so proud of your collection of your own handmade quilts! I only have 3 or so that I've actually finished so I'm amazed by all of yours! Your Swoon and Neverland Pirates are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI don't honestly know how many I've made...I'll have to go count the ones I still have pictures of...okay...it looks like around 40ish...that's not smaller things like wall hangings, runners, etc. This would be baby, lap, and larger. I have two that are mine here and one really simple thing I made for my son's bed...then I have a lap throw I haven't given away yet. All the rest have been gifted or sold for charity. I would like to make a few more for myself...one of these days. =)
ReplyDeleteYour work is just beautiful.
Thank you! My goal for the future is more donated to charity. I haven't made that a priority at all.
DeleteI have made 5 so far. Two I made nearly 20 years ago, one for hubby (then boyfriend) and one for me. They're safely put away as both are coming apart from so much use. One I made nearly that long ago, but never bound until last year when I started up quilting again. And since I started again last April, I've completed 2. I have several tops that are done or nearly so, but haven't been sandwiched yet. And a couple that are hand tied, but not bound yet. Oh, I did make a small rag quilt for my niece.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely never enough quilts! They are just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow! I only started quilting in October so I've completed two full size quilts, two minis, and two table runners so far. But I'm in lots of BOMs and have a couple of tops just waiting to be basted and quilted so this time next year I hope that that number will be much larger!
ReplyDeleteYou are so productive! I love them all -- as you know!
ReplyDeleteI'll need to count - but nothing like this. I'm lucky to finish one full size quilt a year. Now I must go check out your etsy shop!
ReplyDeleteI am in awe, lol! First time to this party and when I landed on yours there is just so much to view , wow : ) So I'll be back and would love to see your mother in laws hand quilting yes....you have alot of eye candy and tremendous talent here :)
ReplyDeleteI've made six quilts so far and am working on my seventh. Four were baby/toddler quilts and have found new homes as has my largest quilt so far. Only my first and the new one are for me. So far. I think you can't have enough quilts. When one goes into the washing machine you need another in the meantime, right? And each household mameber needs their own? What about the beds? :)
ReplyDeleteI've never given a quilt away. I should add that I've been quilting since 2000-ish and it's really only the last couple of years that I've had the courage to go from quilt tops to finished quilts. I have 3 twin sized, 3 baby and a queen sized quilt completely finished and all of them have quality issues that prevent me from giving them away. I am currently just a binding away from the first quilt that I'm giving away and I'm really happy to say that it's the first quilt I've done without a single pucker in my backing fabric.
ReplyDeleteLoving the stars. I can't wait to see how it ends up looking. =)
