What do I want out of 2013? I've been thinking about this for the last month or so, and I'm still not completely settled.
2012 was the year of the UFO (unfinished object aka quilts) and I did really good. But there are still many pre-2012 quilts waiting in the queue, and 26 UFOs on my list. Ideally all 26 of those will be done and I can move on to new projects and new fabric and no long list, but knowing my track record, that won't happen. And I'm not going to give myself any kind of lofty goal of besting 2012's 49 projects. That is just insane! I am not sure how I even accomplished that because I know I wasn't finishing nearly a project a week, even with the small ones added to the mix.
I do know that in 2013 I want to:
- Learn to Free Motion Quilt. I've played around with it a little, but am still scared of it. I'm signed up for Leah Day's Craftsy class, and need to sit down and watch the videos. I got Angela Walter's Free-Motion Quilting book for Christmas. I've got all the tools for my machine, including some lovely new Machingers and a real Supreme Slider (no more ugly brown reusable cookie sheet liner for me!)
- Finish Farmer's Wife, even if it takes me all year. I have 40 of the 111 blocks done. I could have been finishing up about now if I'd stayed on track, but I didn't. I even failed at my goal of 1 block a week. But I am going to do it!! Even when I get busy and stressed and have a custom order I need to get done and in the mail.
- Write More Patterns. I have a few ideas rolling around in my head, and half typed up, I just never take the time to actually get them in print.
I know I have a few big projects, besides Farmer's Wife that I'll be working on.
I am signed up for the Sugar Block Club, block of the month.
I'm working on a custom quilt for my friend Becky.
And I need to finish hand quilting Rainbow Connection.
I am excited to see what other projects 2013 brings my way! What do you have planned for 2013?
I have loved your work this year, can't wait to see what this new year brings for you!!
