Everything but the kitchen sink

First I want to remind you all of the Sweet Treats Blog Hop starting Sunday. You won't want to miss a single post, but definitely check in next Wednesday, October 10, for my tutorial. I'm going to wait for the big day to reveal my project, but here is a little taste...I'm so excited! (And I better start writing the tutorial)
My current big WIP is Treasure Box QAL with TraceyJay I've almost got my boxes all done. yay!
You know I had this project on my design wall for my friend Laura. I played around with a few layouts and then started sewing. And the I discovered that in my excitement to use scraps for a quilt top all of my little squares were just slightly different sized. Enough that things started getting wonky fast though I was trying to finagle them as I sewed. And then I almost finished up the bottom section of the quilt and realized it would only be about 39" wide. Not quite big enough to make a good adult size throw. I could get super creative with the borders, but then that would take away from the design in the body of the quilt. Argh frustrating!
So I decided to just take the pieced section and make something with it - it will very soon be a small tote bag. I'm sure one of my daughters will claim it and fill it with stuffed animals and rocks and twigs and things.

My stack to be quilted is still the same - actually it's grown. There is a whole cloth quilt on top waiting for attention, and I really need to quilt my Linky Love quilt.
And one final sneak peek, I'll blog more about soon. =)

  3. Nice save on the HST quilt. A tote will look great with it.

  4. those HST's can be a real difficulty, practice, practice, practice! I must say, I did the same thing a few years back and the tote I made with the odd HST's is still in use as my "tote stuff to quilt guilt meetings in"! No one knows if the HSTs are crooked or stretched or not right!

  5. I typically don't have issues with HSTs, I was just too lazy to trim the squares up, esp because it was already laid out. =)
