Monday we finally made a trip to the doctors because Katy just was not kicking her cough. After the most expensive trip to the pharmacy in history, everyone is improving (B had a double ear infection on top of a cold! Katy had croup and a single ear infection!).
Cute Katy is now the proud owner of this fancy inhaler contraption. On top of croup the doctor wondered if she may have asthma. Either way the inhaler is helping her breath. |
I got a lot of cuddles from B |
Before things got to bad, I was able to get a new bookcase build and put up in my sewing room, and some much needed organization done. Do you know how lovely it is to have your stash visible on shelves? It is so pretty! My sewing room has come along way since last summer, I did get rid of the beautiful blue desk, but I needed storage more than another surface (which I never used).
I also made some progress with some projects!
Last week Sparkle Punch looked like this
And after a lot of this:oh chain piecing, how I love thee |
all points sewn on, waiting for excess to be trimmed off |
Trimming off excess. I discovered I could layer them and knock out a few at a time! |
After pressing, came a whole lot of squaring up |
And finally this
it's going to be sooooooooooo pretty!!! |
As you saw in my last post I decided to stop with 42 Farmer's Wife blocks. I think that was a very wise choice, and I have all the blocks sewn into their sashing/setting/whatever, ready for me to settle on their layout and stitch them together.
Pre-squaring up. Mine finished at about 8.75" square. Sewing 2.5" strips around the ones on the left was actually too much fabric. |
I feel so bad for the girls! I had no idea! Sad pictures!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you are all feeling better soon! Your Sparkle Punch is looking great, love that block setting.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about #quiltnon--that would have been fun. I missed it too this year. Hoping for next.
ReplyDeleteI love Sparkle Punch and the "crunched" setting.
Sorry you've all been so sick. I hope you're all back to normal very soon!
ReplyDeleteYour sewing area looks lovely...so bright, spacious...and it would be fun to see your stash on a shelf. Mine is stuffed in some paper boxes...and shoved under a bed. It works for now...I don't really have space of my own.
Love your sparkle punch and the farmer's wife.
Have a great week!
So glad that the kids are on the mend. I am impressed that in the chaos you managed to get any quilting done. Your sparkle punch quilt is going to be fabulous.
ReplyDeleteOoooh...poor kiddos! Thank goodness they are better! Love your sparkle punch quilt...where do I find the pattern for it?
ReplyDeleteHere you go! http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/2012/01/sparkle-punch-quilt-along.html
DeleteIt really is going to be so pretty. All of that sickness makes me emotionally and physically tired in sympathy. Poor littles and you. You're space is looking great!
ReplyDeleteI love the stars. It will be so pretty!
ReplyDeleteSick kids are the worst- meaning you just want to take it all away and feel bad for them! Such a helpless feeling. I've been down and out for over a week - and I can't imagine a baby feeling that way. But kids bounce back and act like they never felt bad a day in their life. I hope your kids feel that way quickly.
ReplyDeleteSick kid here too :( RSV is going around. We had to cancel a trip to Hawaii (since flying with RSV and an ear infection is just wrong to everyone). Your quilt looks amazing! I hope everyone is healthy soon.
ReplyDeleteOh no! That is not good. I hope your kiddo get healthy again quickly!
DeleteMine bounced back very quickly after the visit to the doctors last monday, now we are just finishing up the antibiotics for the ear infections.
