New Look

I am so excited about my new blog headers, seriously down right giddy!!
I've been thinking about how to add a bird to my logo for awhile now, and it finally came to me yesterday. An origami crane. I know, not what you'd typically think of what considering a happy little bird, but I've got a good reason.
To start with - I'm 25% Japanese. You wouldn't know it besides a slight almond shape to my eyes and a flat Asian butt, but it's true. (And of course despite searching for 30 min I cannot find a pic)
The other reason origami cranes are special to me - my sweet hubby folded over 1000 paper cranes for me as a wedding gift. *awww*

My cranes
What does one do with 1000 paper cranes? He strung them up for me and we made a little curtain (picture those beaded curtains people put in doorways) and they've hung various places as we've moved. But they haven't had a home for awhile, the curtain just doesn't work anymore. I want to restring, or tie the strings together and have them draped around my room like a garland instead.

Anyway, with all these cranes floating around I decided to try my hand at a little paper piecing pattern. My first one was not so great, but with some help from my hubby and his magical Google Sketchup skills he made me a template and fixed the issues my original had. I need to clean things up, but I think I'll be putting the pattern up on Craftsy soon. =)

  2. Aw I love the little crane! My husband is 1/4 Japanese as well and he's just so proud of it. He says "my people," far more frequently than any person should and I have to remind him that he's mostly a white kid from Louisiana.

  5. Your new look is awesome! I guess in folding the 1000 cranes, the wish he got was you? That's really sweet! About a week ago I learned to fold a crane and have made 3 a day since. I really want to have all 1000 done by Christmas.
