I'm so excited to share my first finish of 2013! I feel like I've been sewing and quilting and not getting anything done (because I keep starting more! like always), so it is nice to have something to show for it.
Of course this quilt comes from my very very old WIP list. The pattern is called Blooms for Annabelle. I bought it and the fabric waayyy back in 2006. I think I pieced the top sometime in 2007, as well as did most of the applique, but then it got put aside when I got pregnant and made my Roots and Wings quilt instead (back when I didn't know I could machine quilt on my home machine and feared hand quilting, and never finished it for my own baby's nursery).
I finished up the applique last year, and then it sat in a pile for a long time waiting to be quilted. I just couldn't figure out how I wanted to do it. The blocks plus the applique were throwing me off. But once I designated an owner for this little quilt, the quilting finally came to me. Simple and sweet to showcase the pattern.I like how the quilting on the blocks ended up looking like Economy quilt blocks. And look at that adorable print for the backing! Love it so much!
I hope baby Melissa will love it, I know her mama does.
Of course I forgot to take measurements. Pattern is Blooms for Annabelle. Fabric Celebrate Spring by Sandy Gervais.
