Blogger Quilt Fest: Drunk Zebra! Entry #190

Welcome to my Blogger Quilt Festival visitors! Thanks for stopping by! And thanks so much for the nomination!! My quilt is one of the beautiful nominees for the two-color quilt category. Vote for your favorites in each category here. For viewer's favorite go here and check out all of the entires, but you only get ONE vote, so vote wisely.

{For the duration of the Blogger Quilt Festival, my Drunk Zebra pattern is on sale for $4 rather than $7, and you can purchase it here.}

Drunk Zebra!
The quilt finished at about 56" x 64" and was made with Kona Cotton black, Free Spirit Designs Winter White, and backed in the lime green big polka dot from the line Half Moon Modern by Momo for Moda. The binding was the perfect random zebra print I found at a local shop and forgot to note.
 This quilt was made for my cousin, the amazing artist behind Spiffing Jewelry. She was in the process of decorating her new studio and pinning stuff like crazy. One of those pins happened to be a rug that looked very much like this. I made a passing comment about how I thought I could turn it into a quilt, and the rest is history. (Of course after I printed off the pic I could never find the pictures of the rug online again.)
 I developed the pattern (with a little help from some of my online quilty friends), using a paper piecing pattern. No matter what I tired it is just impossible to get this look without paper piecing. It can be tedious, but is so worth it in the end!
Festival Stats:
Size: 56" x 64"
Special Techniques: Paper Piecing
Quilted By: Me, on my domestic machine using a walking foot.
Categories: Throw size, 2 color quilt, or maybe quilt photo?
Entry #190 by Happier Than A Bird Quilts

HUGE thank you to Amy from Amy's Creative Side for hosting and all her hard work, and thank you to all the sponsors.

I promise I'm walking away now.

{I had to shut down comments on this post. Apparently spammers are trolling the old festival posts.}

  5. What a great pattern! And what a good idea to use only black and white. you don't see that combination a lot, but the result is spectacular.

  7. I reay think this is the best choice. It's something completely original and it's uniqueness jumps out at you instantly when you see it for the first time. I also think it works great as a thumbnail, so no matter where you are on the list you're going to be clicked on a lot. I love your other quilt too, but it's quite as suited to how the blogger's quilt festival works. I really think this quilt will pull in a prize. As a bonus, your design has a lot of room for personalization, I think we're going to be seeing many versiofools this quilt in the coming year.

    Good luck to you. This is one I fully plan on voting for!!!
