I've had a request for photos of my sewing room. To be honest a lot of my sewing gets done in the family room, and I'll take my sewing table in there, but I am trying to keep it to my space.
I also just revamped it because I needed to rearrange my bookcases to accomodate my new huge printer, which needed easy access to a plug, so I am just getting used to this new configuration, but I think I like it. The room is small and seems over crowded, but I do have a good floor space to work with as needed.

From the doorway looking in. |
|
Computer/printer area, with rocking chair, and most of my accessibly storage.
You can see that my mini quilt (which is a postage stamp quilt made out of a honey bun) is a mini design wall. It also has loose needles poked in it for storage because I hate putting them in my pincushion. |
|
Sewing and cutting table, with overflow storage underneath. The white thing is a rolling cart which contains my rarely used scrap-booking items. The pink box is for scraps as I am cutting, but is currently a catch all. |
|
Ironing corner as well as another quilt turned design wall. I apparently can't hang quilts in my sewing room without doing this. |
|
Computer area storage. Top left shelf has my laminator and light box as well as freezer paper and tracing paper.
Top right has computer paper and foundation paper for printing paper piecing templates, as well as a tin with applique and the wooden sewing box which holds various notions that are rarely used.
Bottom left basket is partially finished quilt projects awaiting their turn to be finished.
Bottom right basket is finished quilt tops waiting to be quilted. |
|
Various storage. The boxes on the top right have finished products that are for sale on etsy. The little stack of nesting boxes holds pins and needles. The orange box has thread.
The bins and boxes on the shelves contain various quilt projects in varying stages of doneness. |
|
Cutting corner.
Cutting rulers hanging on the wall. Shelf holds random knickknacks.
Bins under the shelf have writing utensils and various notions.
The plastic box contains the fabric and book for Farmer's Wife, the basket has the blocks I still need to piece for Swoon.
There is a mason jar with scissors and my rotary cutter.
Underneath is a 3 drawer plastic storage unit with my rarely used scrapbooking tools.
The pink bin is supposed to be for scraps, but is a bit of a catch all at the moment. And the bag is a tote from 31 that is my portable project holder and currently has fabric for a quilt made from "Just Wing It!" And then of course the trash can. |
|
Behind the door to the room my hoops are hanging on the wall...some of them are missing in action. |
|
Inside the closet is a mess of storage. The drawers hold various notions including a drawer devoted to embroidery.
On the shelf are quilt books, magazines, and patterns. A box of ribbon, stationary, and as you can tell a thing of batting. =)
There are 4 storage bins with various projects or just fabric. The red boxes have batting scraps in them. There are finished quilts awaiting sell on Etsy hanging from the hangers, and of course the storage pockets on the door with varying fabrics, it is mostly sorted by color. |
And that is my sewing room. For now anyway.
Oh, and this used to be B's nursery before I moved her into K's room. Hence the pretty purple walls and the butterflies. The pictures of my husband on the wall by the closet were part of a photo mural that I hung while he was deployed so they'd know their daddy's face.
I am not sure if you love it, but the purple walls were the first thing I noticed and LOVED about your room. It just seems like calm, warm, peaceful room that allows you to be creative!!!
ReplyDeleteI do like it, I never would have done it for myself. I am thinking something lighter would be good, but the room gets pretty good light.
ReplyDeleteSuch a happy room in a happy house! I love it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful room!
